Nightmares
Your brain is trying to wrestle with your
emotions. I think the man signifies your
father and the woman you feel betrayed by is
your mother, hence drowning or cutting her
throat. As for the sadistic side of your
dreams - it possibly could be a way for you
to avoid being intimate as you have had a lot
of traumatic issues around coming out and
quite possibly feel some shame over that
still. I had similar dreams and had a
terrible time working through them but came
to realize with the help of a good therapist
that I was trying to cut off ties with
potential love so I would not get harmed
emotionally again.

I doubt you are sadistic, but your mind is
just looking for a way to survive all of
this. I look forward to the advice that
Cathy you and please know that you are not
alone and that everything will be alright.

Thanks for Being here.
Hello Cathy and WYP fans. SheWired's editor
here. I want to thank everyone for coming
back to SheWired after a harrowing week of
tech issues and tenacious hackers. Our tech
team spent the weekend ensuring the site was
good to go.

Some of you may notice
residual formatting issues with the site,
which we are aware of and working to correct.
I want to thank all of you for your
patience and for revisiting us. And of course
I must thank Cathy for being such a great
presence on the site! Cheers!

Great dream analysis book
I was in psychotherapy for several years with
a therapist who helped me analyze my dreams.
I found this really helpful and part of my
healing process. As I understand it, part of
ourselves is trying to tell ourselves
something important using metaphors and
images that are important to us. I came
across a book several years ago that reminds
me very much of the process I went through
with my therapist.

I couldn't be any more
enthusiastic about this book: IT IS GREAT.
You can learn about different schools of
thought about dreams, but you can skip that
part and get right to the practical stuff.
This is so different from the "dream
dictionary" approach. You can do it yourself,
although the author also recommends finding a
"dream partner" if that appeals and is
possible. This is a step-by-step technique
that helps you discover meaning in your
dreams. There is a special section for
nightmares.

"All About Dreams" by Gayle
Delaney. http://www.gdelaney.com/

B, I
know you have a lot of people out here
rooting for you. Best of luck in your healing
journey.

Interesting subject matter
I find it disconcerting that I don't dream
anymore. I used to have lovely vivid lucid
dreams and now I don't. I think dreams are
the way the subconscious deals with matter it
may not be able to handle while we are awake.
It's a gentle nudge.

Thanks Cathy and
Lucia, another fantastic wyp. Look forward
to Thursday and taking the gloves off.

B...
I didn’t see the show so I don’t know what
advice was given, but something else that may
be helpful [on the side] is meditation, even
if it’s just a simple one to calm your mind.
Here’s one that may be useful...
Mindfulness of Breathing:

Do stretches,
wave limbs, roll shoulders forward/back, head
side to side (but not forward/back) – loosen
muscles.

Sit on a chair either at edge or
against back rest, or on the floor on
cushions. Keep your back straight but
relaxed.

Be aware of sensations in feet,
contact with floor, feel them sink into
floor.

Work awareness of body from feet to
head (i.e. feet, shins, thighs, bottom, back,
arms, neck, head)

Then:
• Breathe in and
out through your nose.

• Count to ten in
following pattern:

Breathe out – count 1 –
breathe in – breathe out – count 2 – breath
in...

• Repeat for a while

• Then alter
counting to ten as follows:

Breathe in – 1
– breath out – breath in – 2 – breathe out...
• When thoughts pop into your head bring
your concentration back to your breathing.
• After a while stop counting and continue
your breathing rhythm.

• When you want to
come out of it make yourself aware of the
noises around you, the room around you, be
aware of your body and come out of it slowly.
Don’t worry or become frustrated if your
mind wonders while you’re meditating, it’ll
happen, just let it pass. The meditation
above is very good for stilling the mind.
Even 10 minutes of meditating can have quite
an effect. Good luck B.

[ps breathe
deeply]

One of Cathy's viewers has been kind enough
to record her live WYP's, so we will be
adding it to the SheWired video player and
we'll post it on the homepage when it's
ready!
Thanks for being here!
