The Twilight Saga: New Moon premiered in Westwood, California Monday night and Kristin Stewart happily held hands with her pseudo date, 51-year-old rocker Joan Jett, who was there to lend her support to the young actress.
Stewart, the vampire-loving teen Bella Swan, has a new gig playing pioneer female rock star Jett in The Runaways. It's the story of the "jailbait rock" band that launched Jett as a teenager in 1975 and is due out for release next year.
"It's the coolest opportunity I've ever been given," says 19-year-old Stewart.
"The reason rock 'n' roll is the way it is now and the reason girls are allowed to be not just outspoken but sexually aggressive is because The Runaways did it first.
"Everybody knows Joan Jett but nobody really remembers how she got her start.
"Now I feel she's become my friend."
Robert Pattinson, who plays vampire Edward Cullen, also graced the red carpet.
Other celebrities that attended the New Moon premiere were Shar Jackson, Mary Murphy, 50 Cent, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Kennedy, Stephanie Meyer, Dakota Fanning, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon opens in theaters on Thursday, November 19.
