If Amber Benson won your hearts over as Tara in Joss Whedon's Buffy the Vampire Slayer, prepare to be touched again by the actress-novelist.
In a note posted Monday on Benson's blog, she announced that her limited-edition "Triangle Tara" action figure would be helping to feed the hungry this holiday season.
The fundraising event, which kicked off Nov. 22 and runs through Nov. 29, will donate all the proceeds from every $100 sale to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.
"How is it humanly possible that someone in the United States of America, one of the wealthiest countries in the world, could be going without it? It's absurd, right? Everyone has access to food. It's a God given right, right?" Benson wrote on her blog.
Produced by Benson Entertainment, the exclusive six-inch figure — limited to 2,000 worldwide and featuring accessories like a purse, candle and potion bottle — will come personalized and signed by Benson, who played Willow's (Alyson Hannigan) lesbian girlfriend on Buffy.
Starting Nov. 30 and running through year's end, the price returns to its standard $125 with 50 percent of the proceeds going to the L.A. Regional Food Bank, a nonprofit that provides food for 900 agencies including abused and abandoned children's homes, battered women's shelters, AIDS hospices and more.
The L.A. Regional Food Bank says that five pounds of food are distributed for every $1 raised, and more than 400 meals are provided for every $100 raised.
Sounds like Benson has the right idea this holiday season.
