I think the idea is - the more straight people see out gay people; the more commonplace it will become for them...nudging them towards accepting us. From there on out - it's the ripple effect.

Sousou I agree
When people think of gay people they think about the gay pride parades and flamboyant queens and that's what gay is to them....if we come out we put a neighbor, friend, family or co-worker face on gay then it's more likely when those people go into the voting booth they will remember that neighbor, friend, family member or co-worker and maybe they'll fight for us. It's typical grass roots efforts like these that will make a difference, not million man marches or speeches by the HRC. It's up to you and I.

coming out
I haven't tuned into TGAO for a while now, only because of the time difference, funny that I should tune in when I'm deliberating over coming out to my dad. I say 'deliberating' because he has health issues and the rest of my family are strongly urging me against it, there's nothing like the threat of a stroke or heart attack to stop you in your tracks. So if anyone out there is wavering, provided you will be safe, do it while you can!

Great Episode
Thanks for the information!! I believe that the best part of being in a lesbian relationship is the fact that you truely get to establish your own roles not just what society forms for you. Also, with each partner that you are with you end up changing the dynamics of who you are. With one you could really end up being the pampered person...where as with the next perhaps YOU are the one who is taking care of your parnter. I myself was raised to be very oldfashioned, and as such i tend to lean towards a butch role in all of my relationships.. Thats why i consider myself a soft butch. I think as long as you are compatible with eachother, it really doesnt matter WHAT you consider yourself...or what other people think. As for Cathy being very so enraged about the whole seperation of the community on the first for equality. I am so very glad to have the oppurtunity to follow someone who is so entralled by the cuase. It is becuase of you that i went to the meet in the middle march when they came to fresno in may. Thank you!

The show was so intense!!!
I actually came out to my sister and one of my oldest friends after the episode! Thank you so much Jill and Cathy for giving me that little push that I needed. I was on the verge of tears listening to you two! Two down-The whole world to go!!! Everything you said last night was right on! This was just what I needed and I think I can breath again. Thank you sooo much again!
