Jill Bennett and Cathy DeBuono: 'The Gloves Are OFF!' Recorded Video 12
by Jill Bennett and Cathy DeBuono | Article Date: 12/05/2009 9:00 AM
Jill Bennett and Cathy DeBuono livestream their new show The Gloves Are OFF every Thursday only on SheWired! But in case you can't tune in live, we record each episode and will post them up on the site afterwards. Here another episode for your viewing pleasure!
In this episode, exhausted from shooting We Have to Stop Now, Cathy and Jill do a Sweet cruise wrap-up and discuss cyber-bullying.
I'm glad that you ladies brought this topic
up, as it is really pervasive in the message
board communities, particularly when people
under the guise of anonymity feel that they
can say anything that they want (and in
everyday life would never say out loud) and
get away with it. I tend to prefer either
responding with an intelligent comeback or
not even bothering to respond and following
this Cyrus Ching quotation "I learned long
ago never to wrestle with a pig. You get
dirty, and besides the pig likes it."
Way2Shy...I apologize, but I am not seeing
the problem you are having with the video. It
is working fine here. If you continue to have
trouble please email me with which browser
and computer you are using and we can try to
troubleshoot.
The livestream player is
fine for livestreamed videos but as we are a
site that is building archives so that we may
remain viable, it is not possible to run
videos in livestream only.
I apologize
for your inconvenience. Email us at
staff@shewired.com if you can't get the
player to work.
So I'm a little delayed in responding to this
video, but the cyber bullying portion hit me
hard. I'm only 16 years old and have been out
in my school for about 5 months now, and I've
only had one case of bullying because of it.
This included someone hacking into my account
at school [which isn't very hard to do) and
saved several files that consisted of nothing
but the words "I'm a f**" in the largest size
possible font. Which does hurt because, just
as you said, I do care what others think of
me and it's harder to let roll off my back.
However the main point of this comment was
just because I have been bullied to the point
of wanting to attempt suicide, and have a
past with self mutilation because of the way
peers had treated me, and within this video
you state that teachers know when there is
something wrong. They really can be fairly
oblivious, I was able to walk around my
school in short sleaves with my arm butchered
from my wrist to my elbow and no one noticed
for a good 3 months...it wasnt til I didnt
care anymore and wasn't trying to keep the
attention away from my pain that they
actually noticed that something was going on.
From there I was told to go see my guidence
counselors at school, but they can't help.
All they did was inform my parents, which of
course pissed me off more, and sent me to a
youth worker. Schools suck at finding
bullying, and if they can find it, then they
suck at doing anything about it.
That's my
rant and my two sense on this topic, I wish I
could have known about this earlier to
participate in the chat, but there we have
it!
