'Outrage' Out on DVD: Closeted Gay and Lesbian Politicians

The controversial documentary, Outrage, illuminating the outing of lesbian and gay politicians is being released on DVD Tuesday, according to the Washington Post.

If you missed Kirby Dick's documentary when it toured the gay film festival circuit last year and premiered in April at New York's Tribeca Film Festival, now is your chance.

Outrage peeks into the lives of gay politicians - past and present - who linger in the closet and actively support an anti-gay agenda. The doc explores the damage these closeted politicians have inflicted on the gay and lesbian community. Dick´s films tend to address topics that the picturesque family might be uncomfortable with, including sexual abuse and religious dissatisfaction. His most recent work, This Film is Not Yet Rated, takes us inside the movie rating wars and the internal politics within the industry.

Well-to-do politicians are named in this eye-opening documentary and some notable legislators -- all of them male Republicans, several of whom still serve in prominent positions -- are basically outed in Outrage.

Complete with deleted scenes, Outrage will open your mind even further about the hidden meaning of politics and the not-so-daring media rumblings on DC's front lawn. The film alleges that Washington, DC is literally full of gays and lesbians and the DC gay community clearly knows it. DC City Councilmember David Catania said it best, "can't swing a dead cat [in DC] without hitting a gay staffer."
