Cyndi Lauper Advocates Equality on 'Celebrity Apprentice'

Girls just wanna have fun!

Iconic 80's pop star Cyndi Lauper has taken her gay and lesbian advocacy to the hit show Celebrity Apprentice.

The Grammy-winning singer debuted on NBC's Celebrity Apprentice Sunday night and is creating a buzz about her LGBT charity, The True Colors Fund.

One of the 56-year-old singer's goals is to get the straight community involved in the support of LGBT equality. Over the past two tears, True Colors has raised over $200,000 for organizations like HRC and PFLAG.

"As a longtime and outspoken advocate for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality, I felt the need to do something bold to bring everyone together to celebrate the LGBT community," Lauper says on the True Colors website.

"Over the past few decades, the LGBT community has made tremendous strides, but so much more work still needs to be done."

"But, what I also know to be the truth is that if we all stand together in solidarity we can overcome the obstacles still in front of us," she writes.

The contestants on Donald Trump's Celebrity Apprentice 2010 are Sharon Osbourne, Cyndi Lauper, Holly Robinson Peete, Selita Ebanks, Maria Kanellis, Carol Leifer Summer Sanders, Darryl Strawberry, Bret Michaels, Bill Goldberg, Michael Johnson, Rod Blagojevich, Sinbad, and Curtis Stone.

llessies, homos et al
Who cares whether the queer population gets
equal time on celebrity apprentice;
x-dressers need not apply. I wouldn't hire a
flaming faggot or a x-dresser. They should
all go back in the closet and shut up.

cyndi kicks ass
as a str8 guy with a gay brother, i applaude
cyndis stance. back in the 80's, she covered
"what's going on". i remember a newspaper
critic questioning why she was covering " a
war song". i sent the moron an email
explaining that a great song has meaning for
almost every situation that exists, when she
covered this song, she was singing about
aids, hatred, fear, bigotry ,etc. i fell in
love with her at that point because i
realized she was no flash in the pan. the
girl has guts......i love her
