Barbies for Big Girls: Inspired by Mattel's 'Mad Men' Collection

Talk about toys for big kids! Last week Mattel took its Barbie line to an entirely new level of mischief for the naughty kid in all of us with its Mad Men dolls line. The new line includes mini plastic renderings of fave early sixties smokers and boozers Don and Betty Draper, Roger Sterling and Joan Holloway.

While much ado has been made over the Christina Hendricks / Joan doll’s lack of assets, namely her torpedo-shaped Double D Playtex clad ones, and her curvy backside, the Mad Men Barbie set is still a must-have for the pervy collector in all of us. Just imagine being a burgeoning lesbian playing out scenarios with the Betty and Joan dolls! Barbie and Midge never allowed for such possibilities of lighting up the Lucky Strikes, mixing the Manhattans, popping the Mommy’s Little Helpers and passing out on the divan together.

Mattel’s Mad Men line got us thinking about other grown-up TV Barbie sets we’d like to use for playtime.

True Blood -- Sookie (Anna Paquin), Tara (Rutina Wesley) and Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll).  Tight T's, short shorts and plenty of red lipstick.  A pair of fangs wouldn't be that bad, some might like it.

House -- Allison (Jennifer Morrison) and Remy (Olivia Wilde): Doctor's jacket, nurses outfit and plenty of latex gloves.  Both doctors but something tells me that Remy would enjoy wearing the nurse's outfit more.  Open up and say "ahhhh!"

United States of Tara –- The set of four Tara Gregor dolls includes the original Tara with a video cam to record her insight discovering her alters and a digital voice box to record breaking earnestly trendy phrases coined by writer Diablo Cody. The Tara Buck doll comes complete with a sleeveless flannel shirt, filthy truckers’ cap and a beer can that can be Velcroed to his hand. The Tara T doll comes with a hair tie for the eternal pony tail, a belly shirt, tight jeans and an interchangeable tattoo set. Finally, the Tara Alice doll comes complete with apron, baking pan and Easy Bake Oven and a disapproving look.
