Lady Gaga Strikes Back at Ex's $30.5M Lawsuit

Lady Gaga fired back at her former producer Friday in a lawsuit saying he's the one who broke the law by duping her into signing an illegal contract.

According to the Huffington Post, Gaga's lawyer said in a court filing that the agreement at the heart of the suit was "unlawful."

Ex-boyfriend and music producer Rob Fusari filed the lawsuit against Gaga for $30.5 million Wednesday in Manhattan. He claims Gaga, then Stefani Germanotta, ditched him as her career took off.

In the lawsuit, Fusari claimed said he came up with the stage name for the Grammy Award-winning artist in 2006 and helped get her record deal. He also said he co-wrote songs such as "Paparazzi" and "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich."

Gaga filed a countersuit claiming that because Fusari was an unlicensed agent, their agreement was unlawful. The suit says that Fusari was "predatory and financially abusive" to the singer.

"The arrangement was structured in such a way as to mask its true purpose - to provide the defendant unlawful compensation for their services as unlicensed employment agents," Gaga's lawyer Charles Ortner said in the suit.

Fusari's lawyer, Robert S. Meloni, called the claim "ludicrous" when he read the suit Friday.

"Rob was no more of an 'agent' for her than she is a Roman Catholic nun," Meloni said.
