Due to slow ticket sales, the L Word Down Under Convention has been cancelled after a year in the making, reports Autostraddle.
The event's website stated:
Dear L Word Down Under Convention Ticket Purchasers,
Due to the lack of tickets sales for the L Word Down Under Convention, United L Events Inc. is regrettably canceling the event.
Please note that all ticket purchasers will be processed within 5 days of the cancellation, (excluding booking fees) and according to the terms and conditions on the website.
For any enquiries please contact info@thelworddownunder.com
The all-out lesbian filled convention was scheduled January 22-24, 2010 in Sydney, Australia at the Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre.
Confirmed guests included Marlee Matlin (Jodi), Rachel Shelley (Helena), Laurel Holloman (Tina), Anne Ramsay (Robin) and Rose Rollins (Tasha). U.S Comedian Poppy Champlin was scheduled to be the house MC.
With the main actors of the show secured back in September, United Events Inc. predicted it would be the biggest L Word convention ever to be held.
The all-access VIP premium tickets were sold out at $450 a pop. Even the early bird tickets for $325, better know as-"I've been waiting my whole life for this moment"-were completely sold out. Word on the street is that it was the general admission tickets that were on the fritz. To see what you could have had, visit the L Word Online. |
