Wanda Sykes and Rosie O'Donnell Talk Lesbian-Hood

Out comedian Wanda Sykes confided in Rosie O'Donnell and millions of listeners when she called the comedian's SiriusXM talk show to talk openly about her decision to come out and her family's less-than-positive reaction.

The funny lady also dished on meeting her wife, Alex, her sudden decision to come out and being a lesbian in the black community.

According to Autostraddle, when Sykes came out publicly during a rally for Prop 8, she did so on a wing and a prayer. She said she didn't feel any pressure from the gay community in particular, but Rosie felt the opposite saying she felt "stalked" by former Advocate Editor-in-Chief, Judy Wieder:

"She'd be at every event I was at and she'd say 'I really want to talk to you about coming out. When are you going to come out?' It felt like pressure from the gay community, not really anyone else."

Sykes' family was the most difficult to come out to, admitting, "We're still working on it. They're getting better with it. I know they love me..."

The GLAAD Award recipient admits that her family seemed the most concerned about the prejudice she would face being a lesbian in the black community. Her mother told her, "if it ever gets out, I hope I'm dead."
