Out season one finalist Vicci Martinez caught fans up on her latest work before The Voice returns for a new season after the Super Bowl.

Martinez, a lesbian whose story of coming out at 16 to deeply religious parents was prominently featured on The Voice, might be best remembered for bringing the house down with her early rendition of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” on the NBC reality series. She was one of the four finalists in the first season of the celebrated inclusive singing competition.

Though Martinez didn’t take the top prize, she has been hard at work ever since, continuing to develop her songwriting and sound since the live finale. Digital Spy learned the singer has been working abroad with Peter Svennson of The Cardigans and hopes to feature Cee Lo Green, her Voice mentor, on an upcoming single.

Martinez, who has a recording contract with Universal Republic, shared, "I went to Sweden and started working with Peter Svensson, who was the guitar player for The Cardigans. We got together and wrote a handful of songs and just vibe really well together.”

"The album will be released February 7,” Martinez revealed. “But the singles we'll start releasing as soon as possible. We want to get Cee Lo on that first single. It's pretty much 85% sure we'll have that happen."
