Tegan and Sara, the twin sister indie rock duo, were best known for “So Jealous” and their time on Lilith Tour and other musical festivals... Until, they broke into a new, up-tempo, louder sound with their 2007 hit album, The Con.
A favorite of heartbroken, jilted ladies the world over, real life twins and out recording artists the Quin’s offer fans another layer of perspective with the availability of The Con Demos on iTunes.
The hit album, produced by Death Cab for Cutie's Chris Walla, featured Weezer's Matt Sharp on bass and AFI's Hunter Burgan. Some songs even received some TLC from guitar goddess Kaki King. The stronger sounds only helped to highlight the mature, poetic lyrics Tegan and Sara had developed as songwriters by this point.
The iTunes review notes, “though each sister writes and sings lead on seven tracks, it is Sara especially who writes the more intricate pieces ("Relief Next to Me," "Like O, Like H"), showing a more adult songwriter… While Tegan draws more from simpler pop-punk arrangements ("Nineteen," "Hop a Plane").”
The full demo album is available now for $9.99, and you can also purchase singles to hear early versions of your favorite tracks from the seminal Tegan and Sara album.
In November, Tegan and Sara released a new Live DVD set, Get Along, featuring a live show and a collection of three films that give a rare and intimate look into the lives of two widely celebrated songwriters, performers, lesbian musicians, and equality activists.
