Ridley Scott directs a powerful duo of fierce female actresses, Charlize Theron and Noomi Rapace, in his new sci-fi horror film, Prometheus.
And while fans can’t expect another Alien or another Sigourney Weaver-esque epic action heroine, Ripley, in Theron’s performance, we can look forward to a nude scene (Naked push-ups, anyone? "Apparently her "cold and frigid" character likes working out in the buff.") and a thrilling match-up of talent.
“I actually don't play the heroine in it,” Theron explained to Total Film, “That's Noomi Rapace. I play somewhat of a villain in it." Further describing her high-powered villainy as a “quiet thunder,” the upcoming Snow White and The Hunstman’s Evil Queen teased, “… if you’re a Ridley Scott fan and you love the genre, then you’re going to be happy. You’re going to be very, very happy.”
Rapace, who is known for originating the role of bisexual hacker heroine Lisbeth Salander in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, now being played by Rooney Mara in the new American remake, may make a major splash stateside as Shaw, the hot hero of Prometheus.
She leads a team of explorers who track down the alien civilization responsible for the beginning of the human kind, and there they enter a battle to save the future of the race. Film blogs hint the hyped sci-fi horror will “ also explore the origin of the creature from the Alien movies,” according to Comic Con info.
Also costarring in Scott’s Prometheus are Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson, and Logan Marshall-Green, in theaters June 8, 2012.
