'Glee' Season Four Premise Revealed- Where Do Santana and Brittany Fit In?
With several of McKinley High’s most outstanding personalities graduating in just a few short weeks Glee’s producers have finally hinted at the fate of those characters and the show.
Fox Entertainment’s Kevin Reilly said in a conference call Monday that the show’s fourth season will focus on a few of the graduating seniors and be set at a New York-based performing arts school, calling the premise a “show within a show,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The whole “show within a show” idea makes it sound as though Glee is taking a cue from Smash with it’s Marilyn Monroe-themed Broadway show Bombshell mirroring the characters lives, but Reilly did not clarify if that is what he meant by the term.
Meanwhile, fresh faces in the form of new cast members will be filing through the halls of McKinley, THR reports, adding that the veteran cast members who’ll most likely be featured in the New York story are Lea Michele (Rachel), Chis Colfer (Kurt), Darren Criss (Blaine) and Cory Monteith (Finn).
There’s no word on the fate of Glee’s adorable girl/girl Cheerio couple Santana (Naya Rivera) and Brittany (Heather Morris), which is slightly disconcerting since Santana is one of the graduating seniors.
There’s also no word on what will happen Amber Riley’s Mercedes, or Dianna Agron’s Quinn, who are graduating as well.
As for guest stars next season, Reilly announced that Kate Hudson and Sarah Jessica Parker are slated for stints on the show. Here’s hoping SJP reprises Carrie Bradshaw and becomes a surrogate fairy godmother to Rachel, Kurt and Blaine.
