Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge appeared today on VH1's Big Morning Buzz Live to promote her new album, 4th Street Feeling, which drops September 4. She also found time to weigh in on the latest volley in the so-called Culture Wars, the firestorm surrounding Chick-fil-A.

"I never ate there to begin with," Etheridge told host Carrie Keegan. "I figure it's part of us as a country moving into realizing that this whole country is diverse. Diversity is what we are."

Watch the clip below, where Etheridge not only chats about chicken, but reveals her favorite song to play live and discusses the origins of her mantra, "speak true."

Etheridge's twelfth studio album hits stores on September 4, but fans can pre-order 4th Street Feeling on iTunes starting today. The first single from that album, "Falling Up," is also available for purchase on iTunes beginning today. Etheridge embarks on a national tour supporting the album kicks off on October 3 at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California.
