Out mother and X Factor UK contestant Jade Ellis was voted off the British talent contest on Sunday, but she isn't going quietly into the good night.

After performing a moving rendition of Dido's "White Flag" in her last-chance sing-off, Ellis couldn't win over the judges to keep her in the contest over boy band Union J, who turned in a decent but pitchy performance of "Fucking Perfect" by Pink.

"I don't think the decision on Sunday was entirely based on the sing-off," Ellis told UK paper The Sun. "The judges were thinking about their own acts. I believe I sang that song to a really high standard and if that wasn't enough to save me I honestly don't know what I could have done. … The vote could have been tactical. Maybe the judges thought Union J were less of a threat to their singers in the competition."

Judges commended Ellis' talent, but questioned her drive. "You're a phenomenal singer, you're incredible," judge Gary Barlow told Ellis.  "But sometimes I worry I want this for you more than you do."

After the episode, Ellis challenged the judge, pointing out "I don't think anybody would leave a young child at home for that length of time if they didn't really want what they were doing to be a success."

Despite getting booted from the competition, Ellis told The Sun she plans to continue writing and performing songs, with a little help from her mentor on the show, Tulisa Contostavlos, and former Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger.

Watch Ellis' final performance below, and compare it to Union J's flat rendition here.
