It’s battle of the lesbians vying for the Grammy’s Best Spoken Word Album with Ellen DeGeneres,  Rachel Maddow and Janis Ian all landing nominations. The three lesbian titans are also up against Bill Clinton and Michelle Obama, which is very good company indeed.

Ellen’s up for Seriously...I’m Kidding while Janis is nominated for her book Society’s Child: My Autobiography and Rachel is up for Drift: The Unmooring of American Political Power. Typically, it would look like the Best Spoken Word album would definitely go to a lesbian this year but the First Lady, who’s up for American Grown, is probably going to be pretty hard to beat in this election year.

Beyond the battle of the Spoken Word nominated lesbians there were some other noms for queer ladies including the juggernaut that is Sia for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration with "Wild Ones,” Tegan and Sara with a nom for Best Long Form Video for "Get Along,” Joan Osborne for Best Blues Album with Bring it on Home and Margaret Cho for Best Comedy Album for Cho Dependent Live in Concert.

For a full list of Grammy nominees that includes some our favorites like Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Bonnie Raitt, Janelle Monae with Fun click here.
