Established in 2004, the Woodie Awards showcase rising and independent artists in the music industry. Named after the tradition of giving a wooden record to "artists who generate a passionate response to their music," the Woodies have the history of honoring artists about to break through to mainstream success such as The Killers, Muse, and Vampire Weekend. Tegan and Sara were nominated for a "Tag Team Woodie" this year for their work with Morgan Page on "Body Work," but ultimately, the Woodie went to Kimbra for her song "Warrior," featuring Mark Foster and A-Trak.
