American Horror Story: Coven has added another big name to its brood for season three of Ryan Murphy’s mega-creepy series. Gabourey Sidibe, Oscar nominee for Precious, has signed on for the series Murpy Tweeted, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
While the first two seasons of the break-out bone-chilling show were about equal parts men and women in lead roles, Coven is thus far almost entirely about the ladies with Oscar winner Kathy Bates joining the Murphy fold and Golden Globe and Emmy winner for her work on AHS, Jessica Lange, returning. Sarah Paulson, Lily Rabe, Taissa Farmiga and Frances Conroy will also all be back for Coven, according to THR.
Currently Sidibe is starring in the final season of Showtime’s The Big C: Hereafter, which stars Laura Linney. There’s no word yet as to what her role will be on Coven.
While Murphy and FX have kept a tight lid on plot details for season three, Murphy has previously said that it will be a very different tone from the first two seasons.
"What season three is about is more historical in nature," Muphy said in January. “…You're going to see a very different tone in season three, but that's the joy of the show. I think as a person right now I do feel lighter and wanting to embrace something a little bit more fun."
