With the sad news (sad for Leslie and Ann shippers) that Rashida Jones would exit Parks and Recreation this season, the following casting is announcement is just perfect. Orphan Black’s wildy diverse star Tatiana Maslany has signed on for a stint in Pawnee as Tom Haverford’s (Azis Ansari) love interest, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
There are no specifics about her character at the moment -- although we’re hoping she proves to be some sort of foil for Leslie (Amy Poehler) or April (Aubrey Plaza). Maslany, who plays a myriad of clones (including a lesbian) on the breakout sci-fi hit Orphan Black, will appear in the 5th and 6th episodes of Parks and Rec’s season, which kicks off Sept. 26.
THR notes that for Critics Choice Award winner Maslany, her Parks and Rec gig will be her highest profile comedic role to date.
Renowned for its guest roles for stalwarts like Megan Mullalley, Kathryn Hahn, and Patricia Clarkson in the past, Parks and Rec’s sixth season promises to amp up the star power with appearances by Maslany, Kristen Bell, June Diane Raphael, Heidi Klum, Sam Elliot, Henry Winkler and Lucy Lawless.
