Lesbian vegans, Ellen DeGeneres and her actress wife Portia de Rossi, are bringing a new animal-product-free restaurant to the hungry, cruelty-free patrons of Southern California.
The happily married vegans are entering the food biz, investing with The Pretenders’ singer Chrissie Hynde and producer Steve Bing in a new vegan restaurant that will open on Ventura Boulevard in the San Fernando Valley.
DeGeneres launched a website earlier this year, Going Vegan with Ellen that brought together recipes, frequently asked questions, resources and info on celebrities who have gone vegan like Glee star and PETA supporter Lea Michele.
HollywoodReporter.com detailed, “vegan chef Tal Ronnen (The Conscious Cook) will do the menu” for the yet-unnamed restaurant. “Ronnen catered the lesbian super-couple's vegan wedding feast and also is known for preparing meals for a 21-day vegan cleanse undertaken by Oprah Winfrey in 2008.”
Even those who aren't strict vegans can appreciate a meal free of meat and a chance to possibly spy owners Ellen and Portia when the LA eatery opens.
