Out MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow had plenty to say in response to the Supreme Court's hearing on Tuesday of Hollingsworth v. Perry, the federal case challenging California's Proposition 8. While Justice Antonin Scalia's lack of understanding about women's basic reproductive capacity prompted the Rhodes Scholar to throw her pen across the room, she saved her most ferocious vitriol for the notoriously incendiary Justice's "fact-free, homophobic ignorance."
Watch Maddow eviscerate Scalia's argument, then sit down with California attorney general Kamala Harris, who refused to defend the voter-approved marriage ban in court, because, as she says, "it's unconstitutional."
"As the daughter of parents who were active in the civil rights movement," Harris continues, "I refuse to stand in the doorway of the wedding chapel, blocking same-sex couples' ability to marry."
Watch the entire segment below, including a fabulous moment toward the interview's close when Maddow commiserates with Harris about being presumed male because of her job title.
