Leslie, who is straight, clarified that despite the stereotype of the lesbian athlete that playing basketball or being a coach does not necessarily make someone a raging lesbo.
The TMZ staffer she was responding to claims that in his original comment he stated, “40 percent of the staff, players, coaches in the WNBA are believed to be lesbian.”

I love TMZ
TMZ does the poking and digging for the sports I love, but sometimes they take it over the top. I;m not sure weather I like TMZ or not, but they seem to be everywhere. Very Interesting company. Sasha T.<a href="http://www.omnitechsupport.com/email_help.php">email help</a>
One of the drawbacks of trying to keep everything "light"
It's difficult to wade into the waters of what should be a serious topic by making light of everything. It would be nice to talk about how difficult it has been to get a level playing field for female athletes and how lesbians, who already were operating outside the constraints of mainstream society, lend a helping hand--in terms of players and fans--to create a space for women to excel in sports. We can also talk about the automatic assumption that, if a woman is strong and athletic, then she's highly likely too be lesbian. (Ummmm, no.) We can talk about some of the health and self-esteem gains that we've seen since Title IX--the stats are pretty powerful--Nike used some of those stats in a commercial some years ago.The topic deserves more respect and thoughtful processing, IMO.
I would like to have seen
I would like to have seen Lisa's survey questions and the actual results. Methinks she pulled this number out of ........the air.
Lisa Leslie comments
Lisa Leslie is a part owner of the L.A. Sparks and she did not utilize this media opportunity to expand the WNBA brand?! Why respond to an immature question and pull an arbitrary number out of the air? Did we miss the Rasmussen-esque poll of WNBA players' sexual orientation? <shid> Never had ANY professional respect for Lisa Leslie. This proves she still has work to do as a business "person."
So 1970
Not sure where to take offense first. Should it be that this is even a conversation? Or maybe that WNBA was characterized as a joke? Lesbians are people, too. We play sports..all of them. We are bank tellers and strippers, we sell cars and cosmetics..get over it already. Thanks for giving me a place to rant.
