High school basketball coach Nikki Williams, who may have been fired because she is a lesbian, spoke out to Life School's board of directors Wednesday night, with a group of supporters in tow.

According to the Dallas Voice, Williams's fiancée Jen DeSaegher said the meeting went well, with about eight or nine supporters speaking on Williams's behalf, in addition to the coach herself. DeSaegher added that the board seemed to be attentive and receptive to their thoughts.

Williams, 26, was fired from Life School in Waxahachie, Texas for so-called "performance issues," and violating the school's code of ethics and standards of excellence administrators said. Since she was let go, parents of the girls Williams coached rallied in support of her at a school board meeting in November.

While the next steps for Williams are unclear, DeSaegher told the Voice that their attorney would likely request that the termination be expunged from Williams’s record.
