Shot of the Day: Candace Parker and Abby Wambach in ESPN: The Body Issue
There is a moment in just about every workday when we come across something sexy, gratuitous and completely pointless that we wish we could post but don't under the auspices of there being nothing lesbian about it and often there being no redeeming value. Well, we at SheWired have made an executive decision to just throw any of our pseudo-feminist caution to the wind and to just post our favorite shot of the day, whether it be sexy, salacious, or just because…
LA Sparks forward Candace Parker, US Women’s Soccer star Abby Wambach, and several stand outs from the US Women’s Volleyball team are just a handful of the 27 athletes who bared all in the upcoming 2012 ESPN: The Body issue, which will hit newsstands nationwide on Friday.
Parker was selected as one of the cover models, posing in the buff with just a basketball covering her chest.
According to an LA Times interview, Parker said that she "feels more thankful after going through the drastic change of pregnancy and being able to get my body back to how it was before. It's definitely been a process, but I think I'm stronger now. I think my body is better than it was before."
Other female athletes who put it ALL out there for The Body Issue include Olympian Abby Wambach (Soccer), Maya Gabiera (surfing), Ronda Rousey (MMA), Suzann Pettersen (LPGA), Carmelita Jeter (track), Anna Tunnicliffe (sailing), Oksana Masters (paralympic rowing), and several members of the US Women’s Volleyball Team, Destinee Hooker, Stacy Sykora, Alisha Glass, Cynthia Barboza, Megan Hodge, Nellie Spicer and Heather Bown.
