WNBA superstar Brittney Griner proposed to her girlfriend Glory Johnson Thursday night, and now they’re an engaged couple, the Dallas Morning News reported.
Griner, a Phoenix Mercury player who garnered national attention while playing -- and dunking -- for Baylor, Instagrammed a photo of the proposal--a pic of Griner down on one knee holding up a ring to Johnson, a former Tennessee Vols player and a star in her own right for the WNBA's Tulsa Shock.
An over-the-moon Griner wrote on Instagram, “"Last Night was a Night to Remember I became the happiest person on this earth! (almost pass out but when that one word came out I came back to life) Me and my baby @missvol25 are in it for Life!"
At 23, Griner has been named one of The Advocate’s annual 40 Under 40 as an emerging voice for LGBT people.
Regarding excitement over the engagement, Griner wasn't the only one sharing the happy occasion on social media. Friday morning Johnson Instagrammed a picture of a sleeping Griner, the engagement ring balanced on the superstar's shoulder blade. To accompany the beautiful photo, Johnson wrote, "What I get to wake up to @brittneygriner #LoveMakesYouDoTheCraziestThings."
Congratulations to the WNBA’s premiere couple!
