When Honey Maid launched its "This is Wholesome" campaign back in March, the people behind the brand made a strong statement in their commercials that ALL families are wholesome, featuring families of all types to celebrate the diversity of Americans and send a message of acceptance and community. In a statement from the brand, they explained their mission as such:
Today we celebrate all families. From working moms to two moms; stay at home dads to single dads; adopted kids to surrogate kids. Honey Maid recognizes that the reality of family has changed, but the wholesome connections that all families share will endure.
Naturally, the trolls of the Internet who apparently have nothing better to do than spread hatred anonymously gave the makers of Teddy Grahams a dose of bitterness with an anger explosion on social media forums that ranged from racist to homophobic and beyond. Luckily, Honey Maid decided that instead of fighting back viciously or caving to the comments, they would send a stronger message to drown out all the nastiness.
