Michelle Garcia

Michelle Garcia,

Michelle Garcia is an associate editor for The Advocate. That whole writing-about-important-stuff instinct started when her mom started winning awards for her novels on topics like teen pregnancy, and her dad decided it was a great idea to read the Constitution to her as a bedtime story (it was a GREAT idea, btw). After a couple of years as "that weird black girl with the huge boobs" at Sachem High School on Long Island, N.Y., she spent four years overachieving and burning herself out at Oswego State University. There, she majored in journalism and minored in political science and women's studies, which made her basically hate everything in the world.Michelle lives in Los Angeles with her "Main Dude," Adam, with whom she pines for an English bulldog, pug, corgi, or chihuahua, depending on the day. She loves baseball, performing improv comedy, and going on ridiculous adventures with her sisters. She is also addicted to popcorn.
